"The Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe." Edgar Allan Poe Society of Baltimore. N.p., n.d. Web. 26 Oct. 2015. In the article "The Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe", there are many theories about how Edgar Allan Poe actually died. The theory that contained the most information and was the most intriguing was the Cooping Theory. The Cooping Theory states that Poe was found on a street in Baltimore on election day. Near where he was spotted, there was a bar and a place for voting. During election time, Baltimore was known for violence. Some innocent citizens would be kidnapped and forced into a room called the "coop." These citizens would have to change clothing and keep on voting. To make sure that these people would oblige, they were beaten and piled with liquor by their kidnapper(s). This relates back to Poe because he was found on a street in Baltimore near one of these voting polls, he was supposedly found in strange clothes that he was not wearing when he was last seen, and he was so drunk that he was non-responsive. It is clear that the author really went into depth and explained their theory in a way that it makes sense that this tragedy could have happened to Poe. The author is expressing their point/ theory, and trying to come up with ways Poe's death could have happened from the facts they already know. I believe that this theory may have actually happened to Edgar Allan Poe. It is filled with facts, details, and believable events.
